David and Doris Hafer of Wilawana Road, Sayre, Pa., celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 5.
Dave and Doris were married June 5, 1954 in Larryville, Pa. at the Larryville Methodist Church. They have lived in Sayre, Pa., since 1962.
David retired from the Ingersoll Rand plant after 30 years. Doris was a homemaker and drove school bus for Athens. She also babysat for two special little girls.
Dave and Doris have attended the Wilawana Methodist Church for more than 55 years.
Dave taught hunter education in the Valley for 45-plus years. The couple started and was involved in the Youth Hunter Education Challenge group that is located in Rome, Pa., at the present time.
Dave is a member of the Round Top Park Commission.
The couple has three children, Duane (Laurie) Hafer of Sayre, Pa., Lucinda (Terry) Mack of Waverly, N.Y., and a daughter, Carol, who they lost in 2008. They have four granddaughters, Mallory (Brent) Sample of Lewisburg, Pa., Morgan (John) Lucente of Lancaster, Pa., Meredith Hafer of Lancaster, Pa., and Mackenzie Hafer of Mechanicsburg, Pa. The couple has a great-grandson, Rhett Nolan Sample.
Friends and family are invited to an open house on Saturday, June 8 from 1-4 p.m. at the Wilawana United Methodist Church Community Hall. The couple requests no gifts; just come and celebrate this special occasion.
