Sayre Public Library’s Summer Learning Program, “A Universe of Stories,” continues with a program from nationally-acclaimed Sciencetellers – “Aliens! Escape from Earth,” this Tuesday, July 9, at 10 a.m. What happens when two kids see what they think is a falling star? Can they help an alien family get back to their spaceship before a crazy space scientist finds them? Real science experiments throughout!

Other upcoming events at Sayre Library this week:

• Wednesday, July 10, we will hold our Children’s Story Hour at 10:30 a.m. This week’s theme is “Fireflies.” Come listen to stories and sing songs about these blinking, glowing summertime insects!

• Thursday July 11, at 10:30 a.m., we will have our One-on-One Technology Time. Do you have a laptop computer, tablet, e-reader or phone? Are you wondering how to access all of its many features? Bring it into the library and ask away! If you do not have your own computer or device, library computers are always available to expand your knowledge of current technology. We can help you learn how to set up and access email, send photos, search and find websites, and assist with many other technology functions and tools.

• Thursday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. we will have a galaxy art project for teens and tweens. Refreshments will be provided!

• Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. we will have our monthly Kindness Club meeting. This meeting’s theme is “Bee Kind to Pollinators.” Master gardeners will be on hand to teach Kindness Club members about planting plants favorable to supporting the bee population and other things that they can do to ensure that pollinators survive and thrive. The Kindness Club, which meets on the second Saturday of the month, allows children ages 7-12 to take part in acts of kindness that benefit individuals of the community. New members always welcome!

Sayre Public Library continues to add new materials to our collection. New fiction books this week are “Summer of ‘69,” by Elin Hilderbrand, “Big Sky,” by Kate Atkinson, “Cari Mora,” by Thomas Harris, and “The Unhoneymooners,” by Christina Lauren.
