Jesus spoke to the disciples in parables a lot. It seemed to be the easiest way to explain the things he had to teach them; telling a story using familiar things and circumstances to illustrate a truth. The hardest part was trying to communicate the facts—he had to die for their redemption; he would rise again and triumph over death; and most important—he would come again.
