Cain services held

The well attended funeral for Jerry L. Cain, Jr. was held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the McKee Memorial Chapel with Fr. John Kopaz officiating. Burial was in the Tioga Point Cemetery. Police Honor Guard were accorded by numerous Police Forces in New York State. Military Forces Honor Guard were accorded by the Valley Color Guard and the New York State Military Forces Honor Guard. The firing squad included: Fred Hill, Henry Beatty, Steve Dowd, Jarry Reese, Don Hunt, Larry Parks, and Bob Owen.

Merritt services held

Funeral services for Phyllis J. Merritt were held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Athens. The Rev. Linda L. Rogers officiated. Burial was in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa. Pall bearers were Steve & Brett Merritt, James Houser, Devin Kind and Jason Moore.

Walrath

Gail B. Walrath, 60, December 24, 2011; we are celebrating the life of Gail Braund Walrath after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Her services will be Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. The family will receive friends and family at the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, located on the Berwick Turnpike, East Smithfield, Pa. The celebration of Gail’s Home-going will take place on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lynn Ensign officiating.

Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, East Smithfield.

Memorials donations may be directed in memory of Gail to Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, PO Box 10, East Smithfield, PA 18817. Family will provide flowers.

Stickel

Walter S. Stickel, 88, of Cooper Street, Waverly, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., following a period of declining health.

Funeral services and a celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Thursday, December 29th at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 S. Hopkins St., Sayre, Pa. Interment will follow in the Rossi Family Cemetery. Aperiod of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Thursday, from 1 pm until the time of the service at the church. Pettit

Betty Jane Parker Pettit, 81, passed away on December 25, 2011, after a period of declining health.

Atime of gathering with family and friends will be from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., (Noon) Thursday, December 29, 2011, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, N.Y. The celebration of Betty's life will follow the visitation with the Rev. Dale C. Francis honoring her memory at 12 p.m. (Noon). Aspecial tribute to Betty's life will be presented on DVD during the funeral service.
