Robert L Shipman, 86, of Ellis Creek Rd passed away at home Jan. 24, 2012.

Born September 30, 1925, Bob was the son of Lee and Gladys Shipman.

He was a lifelong resident of Barton, running the farm he loved. He was always eager to share stories of the farm and his family.

He was a member of the Waverly Fire Department, Farm Bureau, and The North Barton Grange.

He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta, and his children, David (Joan) Shipman, Dayton Shipman and Kim (Sean) Behrman; grandchildren, Rodney, Morgan, Caitlin, Madison, Caleb, and Eric; his beloved sisters, Viola (Howard) Smith, Priscilla (Harold) Ammerman, Helen (Stanley) Manning, Nancy (Dave) Mesh, and Lolly Shipman.

He was predeceased by his brother, William Shipman.

A time of gathering with family and friends will be from noon-1 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2012, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. The celebration of Bob’s life will follow the visitation with the Pastor Alan Bill honoring his memory at 1 p.m.. A special tribute to Bob’s life will be presented on DVD during the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Barton Grange, 289 Talmadge Hill West, Waverly, New York 14892. Burial will be in Barton Center Cemetery, Waverly, New York.
