It was the early 50’s and I was a little guy, maybe age 4 or 5, when the family went to Lenape Amusement Park. That was the first time I had been to a swimming pool. We had gone to the beach on the Chesapeake Bay, but there I would just wade into the water up to my knees and play. The swimming pool was deep and my dad was in the deep end to boot, coaxing me to jump into his arms.
