Allan C. Vrooman, 53

Allan C. Vrooman, 53, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Allan was born in Waverly, N.Y., on October 21, 1958.

He was predeceased by his father, Virgil Vrooman; and his brothers, Roy Sturdevant and Larry Hartman.

Allan is survived by his mother, Frances Vrooman; his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ted Bishop; his brothers and sister-in-law, Floyd and Barb Hartman, Bill and Lila Hartman, Armond and Patricia Vrooman, Robert and Kim Vrooman; many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

He worked at Tempco in Endicott, N.Y., for the past 10 years and previously at the Owego Foundry. Allan was a social member of the Nichols American Legion Post 1624. He was active and enjoyed all their activities, and was also a member of the color guard. Allan loved playing cards and especially enjoyed time spent with his family. An outgoing person, he cared so much for others, and was always willing to help in any way he could.

Afuneral service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Route 17C West, Owego, N.Y. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Smith, pastor of the Tioga Center Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Tioga Cemetery, Owego. Family and friends are invited to visit at Richards Funeral Home on Thursday March 1, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in memory of Allan to the Nichols American Legion Post #1624.
