Julius Floyd Cornish, Sr.

Julius Floyd Cornish Sr., of 2222 Black Brook Road, Seneca Falls, formerly of Romulus, passed away unexpectedly at Geneva General Hospital on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at the age of 70.

Born in Waverly, N.Y., on March 22, 1941, Jude was the son of Wilbur and Carrie Thomas Cornish.

He was employed by Joe Dendis as a truck driver for many years. Drawn to the outdoors, when not at work, Jude could often be found tending his vegetable garden, fishing or camping. Favored indoor activities included playing cards and watching NASCAR. Most dear to Jude were the memories created with family, especially his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Their hearts will forever harbor a warm place for Jude.

In addition to his parents, Jude was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 40 years, Violet Sklarkowski Cornish on August 15, 2001; one greatgranddaughter, Emily Swarey in 2010 and two brothers, Joe and Michael.

He is survived by a loving partner, Alice Middaugh; five children, Debby (Dan) Gandy of Seneca Falls, David (Brenda) Cornish of Port Byron, Julius (Patricia) Cornish Jr., of Seneca Falls, John Cornish (Becky Donahue) of Romulus, and Jackie (Robert) Couture of Seneca Falls; 13 grandchildren, Heather Andrews, David Andrews Jr, Amanda (Ryan) Gould, Nathan, Shelby, Alex, Michael and Matthew (Justine) Cornish, Ashley (John) Swarey, Alan (Misty) Williammee, Kisha Williammee (Jayson Greenfield) Joe Williammee (Ashley Harrington) and Amber Couture (Louis Freier); six great-grandchildren, Hailey, Madison, Mason and Daimion Cornish, Anthony Del Papa and Kaylee Swarey; five brothers, Marvin (Rebecca) of Lockwood, N.Y., Wilbur (Nancy) of Tenessee, Thomas (Linda) of Ovid, Patrick (Tammy) of Barton, N.Y., and Floyd (Carol) of Tenessee; four sisters, Marguerite (Robert) Franks of Waverly, N.Y. Mary (James) Woodcock of Lockwood, N.Y., Linda (Gordon) Thomas of Barton, N.Y., and Cindy (Mitch) Foster of Georgia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will be present to receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Covert Funeral Home, 7199 S. Main St., Ovid. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Diane Walker officiating.
