Jeannette Louise (Narsh) De Sisto, 81

Jeannette Louise (Narsh) De Sisto, 81, passed away on March 12, 2012.

Born September 17, 1930 in Horseheads, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Jennie McDermott and Clare Narsh.

She graduated from Horseheads High School, Mansfield College of Nursing, and the Guthrie Clinic School of Nursing.

Jeanette excelled in her nursing career, including working in the intensive care unit, head nurse of coronary care, and a key pioneer in developing the cardiac rehabilitation center at the Robert Packer Hospital.

She had a boundless passion for life as evident in the challenges, activities, and skills she undertook; playing the piano and organ, refinishing furniture, skiing, reading, sewing and knitting, gardening and canning, gardening, girl- and boy-scout leader, world traveler, care-giver, and as a member of both the Catholic Daughters Association and the Sons of Italy.

Jeanette was full of kindness and compassion, giving hope to others. Her family and friends meant the world to her, and she was always willing to help and advise them. As an attentive listener, many shared their hopes, joys and sorrows with her. She was truly the epitome of an angel of mercy.

She was preceded in death by husband, Albert; and is survived by son, Vincent with wife, Alisa; daughter, Sharon Rogers; sister, Geri Nasakaitis with husband, Frank; sister-in-law(s), Fern Cobb and Maria De Sisto; grandchildren: Amy, Trudy, Nicole, Angella, Kenny (Vincent Jr.); great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer Association or to the ElderWood Health Care Center, North Unit, 37 N. Chemung St. Waverly, NY 14892 in Jeanette De- Sisto’s memory.

AMass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 23 at noon at the St. James Church Waverly. Interment will immediately be followed at the St. James Cemetery.
