Armine “Army” Scoblick Scopelliti, 92
Armine “Army” Scoblick Scopelliti, 92, of Sayre, formerly of Archbald, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Scoblick was preceded in death by his wife, the former Santina Naticchi Scoblick.
Born in Archbald, on November 21, 1919, he was the son of the late Frank and Madolyn Polimeni Scoblick Scopelliti. He was a graduate of Archbald High School, class of 1937. He attended Lackawanna Business College before serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 in the battles of Guadalcanal, the Northern Solomon Islands and Luzon. After the war, he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Scranton, class of 1949. He was employed by the US Post Office in Archbald for 39 years, retiring in 1987.
In 1953, he married Santina Naticchi. This marriage lasted over 50 years.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph Scopelliti and wife Lindam and David Scopelliti and wife Nancy, all of Sayre; grandchildren, Joseph and Maria Scopelliti, and Daniel and Lea Scopelliti, all of Sayre; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers John, Anthony, Dominick and James Scoblick, Arthur and Henry Scopelliti and sisters, Kathryn Pollitts,
Inez Perry and Anna Rock.
He was a member of Christ the King Parish at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald and Church of the Epiphany, Sayre, Pa.; the American Legion; and Sons of Italy.
Army loved the company of his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, a competitive game of shuffleboard at the Sons of Italy, and lunch at Becky’s Diner with his many friends. He was particularly proud of his service to our country during World War II and spoke often of his experiences.
The funeral will be Monday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Archbald. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Robert Packer Hospital Volunteer Office, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
