George F. Murphy, 81
George F. Murphy, 81, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Community Hospice in Albany, N.Y.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y. , he was raised in Westfield, N.J., and was a longtime resident of Schenectady, N.Y. as well as Sayre, Pa.
Mr. Murphy was an Army veteran, earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Marietta College, and retired from GE in 1991.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence.
Surviving are three devoted children, Michael and Thomas Murphy and Patricia Holmes; five loving grandchildren; a beloved great-granddaughter; four devoted siblings, Mercedes Slates, Donald and Richard Murphy, Lois Britton, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Murphy is also survived by step daughters Patricia and Donna Cater; five step-grandchildren; and three step-greatgrandchildren.
George loved flying his model airplanes and spending time with his two Paso Fino horses.
Friends are invited to visit 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Ave. West in Cranford, N.J. Services will follow at 12:30 p.m., followed by interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.
