William John “Bill” Inman
William John “Bill” Inman, 84, of 714 Pennsylvania Ave. Sayre, Pa. passed away Monday afternoon, April 16, 2012 at the Sayre House, Sayre, Pa. “Bill” as he was known by his family and friends was born in Sayre on October 4, 1927 the son of John “Jack” Inman and Marie Crowley Inman. He was a graduate of Athens High School and Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He later received his masters degree in education from the Niagara University, Lewiston, N.Y.
Mr. Inman taught social studies, history, problems of democracy, economics, sociology and psychology at Athens Area High School for 38 years until his retirement. Following his retirement from teaching, Mr. Inman provided service to the community as a registered investment advisor in Sayre for 10 years and also taught extension courses for Penn State University. Mr. Inman was admired by many as a dedicated gifted educator and a man of integrity and devoted faith. He was a member of the Epiphany Parish, Roma Madre Lodge No. 1342 Order Sons of Italy, UNICO, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1148 in Sayre and formerly served as Chairman of the Bradford County Republican Party for several years.
Surviving are: His beloved wife of 52 years, Lucia “Lucy” A. Gregori Inman whom he married on June 13, 1959 at the Church of the Epiphany in Sayre; Sons and Daughters-inlaw: John L. Inman and Laurie Stefanov of Concord, M.A.; Mark J. and Colleen Inman of Holliston M.A.; Grandchildren: Joseph, Alex, Miles, Max, Nicholas, Jack and Grace Inman. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Lavey.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Epiphany Parish, South Elmer Ave. Sayre, Pa. Interment will be private in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa.
The family suggests that contributions may be directed to the Epiphany School, 627 Stevenson St., Sayre, Pa. or to Guthrie Hospice, 1 Guthrie Square, Sayre, Pa. 18840 in William John Inman’s memory.
