WAVERLY — The second annual Valley Family Fun Day returned amidst sunshine and warm temperatures Saturday to East Waverly Park.
Hosted by the band Copper Coins and various Valley Churches, the free event was simply an opportunity to families to bond together in the community, said Copper Coins bass player Dale Campbell.
“It’s just a great time to get the community together and get families out doing some fun, family-friendly activities together,” he said. “The Valley churches can get together as well and show what services they offer and the ministries that they’re involved in.”
The event included live music, a classic car show, free horse-drawn wagon rides, bake sales and various vendors, games and activities for attendees of all ages.
“The Waverly police and fire departments are here as well interacting with the community,” Campbell said.
While the event was free to attend, donations were accepted for local non-profit organizations such as the Bridge of the Penn-York Valley Churches, the Red Door and First Look Pregnancy Center.
“We have collection buckets places around for those organizations, as they provide valuable services to the community,” Campbell said. “But, overall, this is just a great opportunity for families to enjoy some fun stuff for free and bring everyone together.
