WAVERLY -- A Waverly man is in the Tioga County Jail after he allegedly assaulted a woman and pointed a shotgun at her during an incident that occurred this past Saturday.
According to Waverly Village Police, Allen D. Barton, 49, was charged with felony criminal mischief in the third degree, assault in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and menacing in the second degree.
Police explained that the charges filed against Barton came following an investigation into an alleged domestic incident that occurred at a village residence at 1:28 a.m. Nov. 3.

The victim sustained injuries in the incident, police said.
Police did not state whether the shotgun was loaded during this incident.
Barton was arrested at the scene without incident and was then arraigned in Village of Waverly Justice Court, police said.
Barton was then committed to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 property bond, police said.
The Waverly Village Police Department was assisted at the scene by other local Valley police agencies and Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services.
