ATHENS — Ceramics students at Athens Area High School have been finishing their semester by creating bowls.
The bowls will be donated and sold at the annual Souper Bowl event to be held Tuesday, Feb.19 in the Harlan Rowe Middle School cafeteria from 5 to 7 p.m. Prices for meals are $15 for dinners that include a student-crafted ceramic bowl, or without a ceramic bowl $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 12. Bowls may also be purchased separately.
In cooperation with The Nutrition Group, AAEA, AAESP, and Bimbo/Stroehmann’s Bakery, high school students invite the community to come help raise funds for the Athens Area Art Department and Food for Thought.
Food for Thought is a program that helps provide food to children in need over the weekends when they do not have access to school breakfasts and lunches.
Local community members will be serving a choice of chicken and dumpling (Jim Priester), seafood chowder (Bill Clark), loaded potato soup (Deb Freeman), venison chili (Ryan Osborne), lentil soup (Ali Bennett), and a classic veggie soup (AHS Cooking Class) with salad, dessert, and coffee.
Athens student, Zach Anderson will entertain guests with guitar instrumentals.
The evening presents a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some great food, company, and entertainment while helping to support local students.
