SAYRE — An Ithaca man is facing a DUI charge and multiple summary traffic offenses following an incident that occurred on Pennsylvania Avenue in Sayre.

According to Athens Township Police, Gregory Lee Jackson, 47, was charged after failing several field sobriety tests following a traffic stop shortly after 10:20 p.m. on July 3.

Jackson was arraigned and remanded to jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Court Judge Larry Hurley is scheduled for July 16.

Insurance fraud

An Athens woman is facing several felony charges after she allegedly tried to illegally collect money from a car insurance company.

Cassandra E. Beidleman, 26, has been charged with third-degree felony counts of insurance fraud (misleading statements), theft by deception and attempted theft by deception.

Beidleman was arrested by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Task Force. The suspect attempted to receive $3,748.68 from her insurance coverage despite knowing that she did not have insurance at the time of the accident.

Beidleman was arraigned on July 1 and remanded to Bradford County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, July 9 in front of Magisterial District Court Judge Larry Hurley.
