OWEGO — Following a brief vacancy in the Tioga County Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors, legislators Tuesday appointed Eric Knolles to fill that position.
The appointment takes effect June 12, 2019.
“I am excited to be invited to work with the IDA Board,” said Knolles. “I hope to be able to better connect the educational institutions and programming to the needs of manufacturing and industry in our county and region.”
“I also want to sell interested industry on our kids, our schools and our opportunities as they look to build factories and businesses,” he added.
Knolles also serves on the Waverly Business Association, and is the Waverly Central School District Superintendent.
Additionally, Knolles has spent 12 years working in Tioga County school districts and serving on various committees and organizations.
After the effective resignation of Kevin Dougherty on April 29, IDA board members expressed the desire that the board have representation from the western portion of the county.
According to general municipal law, members of a county industrial development agency serve without a term until they either resign or are replaced by the legislature.
Legislators also expressed “sincere gratitude to Dougherty for his loyal service to the residents of Tioga County.”
