Retail theft

ATHENS TOWNSHIP — An Elmira man has been charged with felony-grade retail theft following an incident that occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Thursday at the Elmira Street Walmart.

According to township police, Matthew Thomas Spallone, 32, was charged after he allegedly attempted to take over $1,371 worth of merchandise from the store without paying for it.

Spallone was arraigned before Magisterial District Court Judge Larry Hurley and jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is slated for June 25.

Burglary

SOUTH WAVERLY — A Waverly man was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail following an incident that occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on June 11 at a North Keystone Avenue residence

According to Sayre Police, Marshall David Timm, 26, was charged with felony counts of burglary — overnight accommodations and criminal trespass, and misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Police said Timm was charged after he allegedly stole over $755 worth of silver coins from a residence on which he was performing landscaping work.

Timm’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 25.
