Honoring Oliver & raising money for a good cause

The Oliver Brown Memorial Golf Tournament was held at Tomasso’s on Monday, Sept. 9. The tournament is held in honor of SPC Oliver Brown, an Athens High School graduate, who was killed in action while serving his country in 2005. All funds from the tournament now go to support Walk for Our Buddies, which raises money for Down Syndrome awareness. The walk is scheduled for Oct. 5 at Larnard-Hornbrook Park in Towanda. Pictured here are members of Oliver Brown’s family as well as the Allen family, including Cameron, who lives with Down Syndrome, and Tanner’s Bar and Grill co-owner Ryan Wood. The tournament, which is held every year by Wood and fellow Tanner’s owner John Thurston, raised $4,000 that will be donated to the Walk for Our Buddies event.
