Betty Jane Evans, 91, of Sayre, Pa., passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
After 91-plus years of amazing life, Betty Jane Evans was called home to eternal life by her Lord and Savior.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mildred Smith; husband, Clifford Evans; two sons, Thomas Richard Evans and Clifford Martin Evans (Marty); sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Don Foster.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Edward Sefcik; three grandchildren, Tammie and William Wertman, Shawn Winslow and Valerie Hutt, Jennifer Evans and Jonathan Foote; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexcia Winslow, Caitlyne Shires, Mathew Wertman, Shelby Rishel, Courtnee Winslow, Seth Shires, Breanna Winslow Hutt, Brian Hutt, Jonathan Hart, and Tiffany Hart; along with eight great-great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Athens High School in 1946, she married the Love of her life, Clifford Evans on June 8, 1946. She spent the first few years raising her three children, after they were in high school she went to work at Guthrie Clinic as a medical secretary for 30-plus years.
Her greatest accomplishment was to become an author, and she wrote a children’s book, Three Young Wild Cats, in her retirement years.
