Richard L. Kline, 69, of Norwalk, Wis., died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Mulder Healthcare Facility, West Salem.
He was born Oct. 24, 1946, in Sayre, Pa., to Chester and Mertie (Brannaka). In 1964, he graduated from Athens Area High School in Athens, Pa.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964, and served until 1970. In 1977, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and served until April 1982. He married Carol Jean Verdick (Patterson) in 1968, and had two children, Richard Jr. (Jenny) Kline, of Onalaska, and Kelly (Todd) Groth, of West Salem. He later married Donna Jelanek in 1977 until her death in 1991.
In addition to his two children, he is survived by his grandchildren, Joely and Noah Kline, Michael, Hannah and Lori Groth, and a great-grandson, Chance Groth, a sister JoAnne of Tennessee, and two brothers, Ron and Phil of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, his mother Mertie and father Chester, and one brother Chester Jr.
A memorial service and burial will be held in Athens, Pa., at a later date.
