A Memorial Mass of Resurrection was held for John Anthony Kelly, M.D. of Athens, PA was held on Saturday, April 06, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Epiphany. Co-Celebrants were Fr. Andrew Hvozdovic and Fr. Joe Kurippilly with Dave Kwaswoik, Stewart Rae, and Ralph Meyer serving on the altar. Music was provided by the Church of the Epiphany Choir, soloist Catherine Russo, and organists Joan Kuchta and Ayn M. Patrowicz. The service prelude was Hail Mary: Gentle Woman and All is Well with My Soul, followed by the opening hymn Faith of Our Fathers. First Reading: Dr. Millee Jorg from Wisdom 3:1-9, Responsive Reading was Psalm 103: The Lord is Kind and Merciful, Second Reading: John J. Gordon from II Corinthians 5:17-21. Gospel: Cantor with Acclamation from John 11:25, I am the Resurrection and the Life. The Gospel was presented by Fr. Andrew from Matthew 5:1-12a. Intercessions: Catherine P. O’Driscoll and Dr. J. Finbar Keane, Sal and Marilyn Nicosia present the gifts. Hymn: On Eagles’ Wings; Holy, Holy; Eucharistic Acclamation; Amen; Lamb of God; Communion, Panis Angelicus; Meditation: Ave Maria (Schubert); Commnedation: O Loving God. Recessional Hymn: Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory; Postlude Hymn, A Mighty Fortress is Our God. Following the Memorial Mass, Military Honors were accorded by the Army Honor Guard and the Valley Color Guard with Mike Guilford serving as Sergeant of Arms and Chaplain; Firing Squad, Bill Douglas, Fred Hill, Gerald Beatty, Bob White, Archie Campbell, Jim Smith, Gary Fairbanks, Mark LaFollette, and Larry Parks; Color Guard, Dan Eiklor, Don Barber, Elizabeth Wagner, and Tom Chamberlain with Bugler Justin Peters presenting TAPS. The church then provided a Post Funeral Luncheon for family and friends.
