Virginia E. "Ginger" (Zagozewski) Creedon LaFollette, age 67, of Waverly, N.Y., passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family, after battling cancer courageously for six years. Ginger, a daughter of the late Carl and Catherine (Blakeman) Zagozewski, was born in Sayre, Pa., on March 26, 1946.

Ginger was a 1964 graduate of Athens High School. She was a former employee of Sears Catalogue, Great American Supermarket, P&C Supermarket and Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Ginger enjoyed cooking and baking, working on various sewing projects, and was an avid reader of the local newspapers, various novels and any title about animals, especially dogs. She was generous and compassionate about life. She enjoyed visiting with friends at Elizabeth Square in Waverly, where she resided. Ginger was passionate about animals and held in her heart a special love and relationship with her dog "Max."

Ginger loved her family more than anything and spending time with them is what she loved most in life. Many family memories were created dining out at local restaurants and taking in a great movie at the Sayre Theater. Ginger was such a fun person and full of energy. She took pleasure in the simple things in life, a sunny day, a bird's song, a flower in bloom. She will be missed dearly and always remembered.

She is survived by her children, William P. Creedon Jr. of Waverly, Alison Ferro and her husband Greg Ferro of Sayre, Andrea Bean and her husband Denny Bean of Waverly, Lisa Creedon of Athens, and Jeff Creedon and his wife Annette Creedon of Sayre; grandchildren, Rachel Bean, Alicia Tappan, Brittany Roberts, and step-grandchildren, Maegan Mullen and Jordan Mullen and one great-grandchild, Jagger Roberts; her sister, Marsha and her husband Duane of Charlotte, N.C.; her uncle, Philip Zagozewski of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Jerome (Jerry) and his wife Louise Creedon of Maryland and her sister-in-law Andrea McMaster of Georgia; her sister-in-law, Shirley Creedon of Nevada; brother-in-law, John Tierney of Arizona; special aunt, Anne Dunning of Waverly; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. All that knew her loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her husband, James LaFollette; the father of her five children, William P. Creedon Sr.; her sister, Jennifer Peters; her special grandparents, Jennie (Shadduck) Brennan and Edwin "Boo" Brennan; her brothers-in-law, John "Jack" Creedon, James Creedon and sister-in-law Nancy (Creedon) Tierney.

A time of gathering with family and friends will be from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly. The celebration of Ginger's life will follow the visitation with Father Bryan Wright honoring her memory at 2:30 p.m. A special tribute to Ginger's life will be presented on DVD during the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Waverly Free Library, 18 Elizabeth St., Waverly, NY 14892, or to an animal charity would be an appropriate and appreciated way to celebrate her love of books and animals.

Ginger will be laid to rest privately at St. James Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
