Well-attended funeral services for Harold John Chilson, 62, of Sayre, Pa., were held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Lowery Funeral Home, Athens. The Rev. Linda Rogers officiated the service, sharing scriptures from Psalm 33 and Matthew 11. Following the opening scriptures, the Pastor shared about Harold’s service to his country, various non-profit organizations, and was always one who was willing to help his neighbors and friends. All in attendance shared Psalm 23 together. Pastor Linda closed in prayer and the committal service came from John 14 and John 11.

Following the committal, the Active Army Honor Guard and the local Valley Color Guard presented military honors. Serving as Sergeant of Arms and Chaplain was Mike Guilford. Firing Squad was Archie Campbell, Fred Hill, Jim Smith, Don Hunt, and Gerald Beatty. Color Guard was Bill Douglas, Tom Chamberlain, Joe Murray, and Elizabeth Wagner. Following the honors, Harold’s brother, Paul, was presented the flag, the shells from gun salute, and a Bible honoring his brother.
