Athens, Pa. -

Anthony Haueisen, age 94, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3 in Aston, Pennsylvania after a short illness. He was born October 20, 1913 in what is now the Czech Republic. He received his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and served in the Czechoslovakian Armed Forces from 1933-1938.
He was persecuted for political reasons during the German Occupation of Czechoslovakia from 1938-1945 and later under the communists. Forced to leave his homeland, family and friends because of political persecution and fear for their safety, he and his wife and young son, immigrated to the United States in1950.
After arriving in the United States, he worked hard to support his family. He first worked as a machinist to get acquainted with the industry and the technical terms. Two years later he was employed as a Design Engineer with Ingersoll-Rand in Athens in charge of hoist and material handling equipment. He retired from Ingersoll-Rand in 1974.
In retirement, Tony enjoyed golfing, political discussions, watching the stock market, travel, and visiting his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irma; his son, Anthony, and daughter-in-law, Jane, of  Hudson, Ohio; his daughter, Helen Ann Dyer, and son-in-law Kerry Dyer of Aston, Pa.
A private, family funeral is being arranged. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or online at stjude.org. Condolences may be sent to www.nolanfidale.com
