Matti A. Vienonen, 63, of Waverly passed away at home Friday, June 27, 2008 following an extended illness.
    Matti was born on October 6, 1944 in Aitolahti, Finland, the son of Eugene A. and Leila Makinen Vienonen.
    Matti was a true lover of nature; he especially loved animals of all sorts both domestic and wild. Matti was predeceased by his Father Eugene A. Vienonen.
    He is survived by his mother Leila Vienonen of Finland; sons Mika Vienonen of Illinois, and Tony Vienonen of Illinois; a daughter Christine Hubschmidt of Elmira, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Kaarina Salminen of Finland, Ritva and Matti Hukkinen of New Jersey, Kristian and Paula Vonbonsdorf of Finland, Pekka and Eevaliisa Vienonen of Finland, and Erkki Vienonen of Sweden.
    As per Matti’s wishes there will be no services. Those wishing may make donations in Matti’s name may do so to the Guthrie Cancer Research Foundation, 1 Guthrie Square Sayre, PA 18840.
