Gregory A. Roupp of Athens, formerly of Ramsey, N.J., died at home on June 30, 2008 at the age of 56 years old. He was the son of Francis “Bud” and Margaret “Peg” Roupp. Greg was a graduate of Athens High School, Syracuse University and Florida State University.
Greg recently retired as a Senior Rate Analyst from United Water, Inc., of Harrington Park, N.J. While at United Water, he was privileged to participate in a work exchange program that allowed him to work at a sister facility in Durham, England. Greg served as a prior Chapter Chairman of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Water Companies.
While living in Ramsey, he was member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed singing in the choir there and served on the worship and music committee. Upon returning to Athens, Greg was looking forward to reuniting with old friends and making new friends at St. John Lutheran Church in Sayre.
Greg enjoyed hunting his entire life. He was a 34 year member of Laurel Hill Game and Forestry Club and was currently President of the club. He was also a member of Diahoga Hose Co. 6 of Athens.
Greg was predeceased by: his parents, Francis and Margaret Roupp of Athens; his paternal grandparents, Francis and Anna Roupp Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Martha Marshall of Liberty, Pa.
Greg is survived by: his brother and sister-in-law, Francis (Skip) and Connie Roupp of Athens; nephews, Christopher Roupp and his wife Elesha of Cary, N.C., and Marshall Roupp of Chicago, Ill.; aunt, Bernice Roupp and her close friend Phyllis Calogero of Barneveld, N.Y.; aunt, Jean, and uncle, Clyde Marshall, of Roaring Branch, Pa.; aunt, Esther, and uncle, Bob Miller, of Akron, Pa., and several cousins.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 3, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Hopkins St., Sayre. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Rodney Saylor officiating. Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with the handling of the arrangements.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery.
