Waverly, N.Y. -

The results of last week’s municipal election in the Village of Waverly resulted in three members of the Progressive Party — incumbent Trustee Mary Gorman, and Dave McIsaac and Tom Bellinger — all being elected to the board of trustees.
But now comes the hard part.
While two of three will begin their new terms in office on April 7, there is still a long road ahead for Waverly’s village trustees.
Addressing the crumbling state of some of the village’s downtown structures, coming to a final resolution regarding the village hall, as well as possibly pursuing more shared services with the Town of Barton, are all items that the village trustees will need to address in the months ahead.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The past, and returning, members of the village’s board of trustees — as well as its two new members — have all shown that they are more than capable to start steering the village toward actual progress.
This trend, however, must continue, and we’re sure with this new board that it will.
