Many times an editorial column is used by this newspaper to give either our opinion on a certain manner or decried the way a topic is being handled. That is the same practice at many other newspapers as well.
    However today, we have decided to use this space to give praise to several individuals who are most deserving of it — specifically the students at our local schools.
    We are truly blessed in this area to have so many fine, upstanding students attending our local schools. These are the students who are capturing high achievements in their academics, in the arts and in sports.
    All too often, the spaces of newspapers are filled with the bad news that plagues our area and our nation — the coming economic recession, the war in Iraq and so on. And this news does overshadow all the good things that happen in this area, especially those that are the result of our local students.
    We here at the Morning Times pride ourselves on our coverage of the local schools.     We try very hard as a staff to give as much recognition as we can to the students at our local schools, especially for their postive positive achievements in academics, arts and athletics.
    There are a lot of good students in our area and to name any specific student or student-driven organization for their particular achievement may lead us to accidentally omit others who are also deserving of praise.
    So to all the students in the Valley, we say “keep up the good work.” You make all of us in this Valley proud.
