WYALUSING — Duncan Thetga, Conner Davidson and Cartyr Cockroft combined on a no-hitter and got plenty of offensive support in a 13-2 District 15 Little League Minors win over RTL Monday night.
Athens put three runs on the board in the first two innings, and then put the game away with a nine-run third inning.
Athens sent 14 runners to the plate in the third inning. Thetga opened the big inning with a single, and Alex McQuay walked. After an out, Zach Fisher walked to load the bases for Cockroft who laced a two-run single to right. Peter Bertsch walked to reload the bases and Kamdyn Wheeler’s four-pitch walk sent Fisher home. Cockroft scored on an RBI ground out by Sam Cheresnowsky. Back-to-back walks by Davidson and Thegta forced another run home and an error off McQuay’s bat made it 9-0. The big blow came courtesy of Graham Wanck. His shot to right brought Davidson and Thetga home. McQuay scored on the throw for a 12-0 lead, and it was all over but the shouting.
Thetga led Athens’ charge with two singles, three RBIs and two runs scored, and Wanck had one single and three RBIs. Cheresnowsky had a single, one RBI and two runs; Cockroft added a single, two RBIs and a run; Wheeler had one RBI and two runs; McQuay scored twice; and three players — Davidson, Lucas Schultz and Bertsch — had a run each.
Thetga gave up just two walks and fanned five in three innings of work as the Athens starter. Davidson came on and allowed three walks and two earned runs in 1/3 of an inning and Cockroft closed the door for Athens with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game.
Athens will host Sayre on Friday.

ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Carter Davies and Kohen Hugo teamed up on a two-hit shutout of Elmira Heights and got plenty of run support in Waverly’s win in District 6 Little League Majors play Monday night.
Waverly put single runs on the board in each of the first two innings for a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the third, a two-out error off the bat of Waverly’s Kadyn Whitney opened the door. Davies aided his cause with an RBI triple and then scored on a passed ball.
Now up 4-0 through three innings, Waverly put the game out of reach in the top of the fourth inning. Andrew Larrabee, Hugo and Ben Shaw worked their way on with walks. With the bases loaded, Bryce LaForrest delivered an RBI ground out. Lincoln Sharpsteen added an RBI single before Whitney came through with another RBI ground out.
