HORSEHEADS — Tioga’s Sam Taylor was medalist and teammate AJ Middendorf had the league’s second-best round Wednesday as Tioga won the IAC Boys Golf Championship on Wednesday.
Led by Taylor’s 82 and the 87 carded by Middendorf, Tioga finished with a team stroke count of 465 to beat second-place Groton’s score of 507 by 42 strokes.
Moravia was third with a 527; Southern Cayuga was fourth with a 543; Marathon was fifth with a 545; and Odessa-Montour was sixth with a 608 team total.
In addition to the two Tigers who broke 90 at Soaring Eagles Golf Club, Jake Maciak tied for the league’s third-best round with a 93 and Ben Coddington’s 95 tied for the sixth-best score on the day. Zach Nichols scored with a 108 and Joe Ellis had a 120 in reserve.
Groton’s James Lucey matched Maciak with a 93 and Zach Tagliavento had a 99 for the Indians.
Steve Vivenzio carded a 97 to lead a balanced Moravia effort.
Jacob McCarty led Southern Cayuga with a 94, the day’s fifth-best score; Kenyon DePuy had a 97 to lead Marathon; and Wes Wade paced O-M with a 110.
Tioga will head to Delhi this morning in a bid for the Section IV championship.
