Chemung, N.Y. -

If you can’t think of anything to say about the 9-10 year old boys’ baseball All-star team from the Northern Tier League (NTL), not too bad might sum it all up.
The NTL is made of seven small communities from both Pennsylvania and New York; East Smithfield, Ridgebury Township, South Creek, Wells-Jackson Township, Wellsburg,     Chemung and Lowman. After tryouts, the NTL coaches choose the top 12 boys to represent the NTL this year. These boys came from seven different teams and had never played on a team with one another prior to this post season. They did not even know the names of all their teammates when they started their post season last month.
All of that being said, these boys came together, practiced very hard, supported each other tremendously, showed great sportsmanship and became a quality team within a couple of weeks. This season the NTL team recorded more victories than any previous teams from their area. These boys lost to Canton Tuesday evening, a team they had beaten 2 1/2 weeks ago, and after competing for three days in a row, to place third in the Joe Shaw Memorial Tournament. Their coaches, families and friends are extremely proud of these boys.
