On Saturday, June 26, Bill Krench of Sayre and Reggie Dawson of Athens traveled to York, Pa. to compete in the weight lifting events at the Keystone Games.
This year was an outstanding victory for both Krench and Dawson.
Krench competed in two Masters events in the 55-59 age bracket and 198 lb. weight class division. His lift in the bench press competition of 142.5 kg or 314 lbs. was only his personal best, but also allowed him to clinch the gold medal. He also competed in the dead lift event, again, capturing the gold medal with a lift of 147.5 kg or 325 pounds.
Dawson competed in the 30-39 year old age bracket and in the 220 pound weight class division. He was able to run away with the gold for the second straight year in the bench press competition. Dawson achieved a personal best of 200 kg. or 440 lbs lift.
Dawson and Krench train at New Image Fitness Center in Waverly. They can often be seen training with a group of friends they jokingly call “Team Krench.”
Krench and Dawson would like to thank Shawn Bostwick and Dave Meyers for their continued support and a special thanks to Niko Hulslander of Garage Ink for his guidance, leadership and inspiration.
