It’s been about 15 years since The Shepard Hills Country Club has been the host of the annual Women’s Senior Finger Lakes Golf Tournament. That will soon change on Tuesday as 72 women from across the Finger Lake country will challenge one another for the championship.
There are 18 country clubs that compete in this one-day tournament. Tee-off time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
Ten women from Shepard Hills will be representing their country club this year starting with the chairperson for the tournament, Joan Kuchta. The other nine ladies are Andrea Carpenter; Sharon Volante; who is this year’s Club Champion; Doris Line; Carol Pientka; Libby Dolan; Linda Smith; Carol Merrill; Mike Sumner; and Connie Striff.
Kuchta, Line, Merrill and Pientka got together with Patsy Volpe, Mary Macnamerra and Pat Cain to make golf shoe key holders which will be given out as favors for the tournament.
The tournament will take approximately five hours. The ladies will enjoy lunch while the scores are added up. The announcement of the champion will follow.
