The Sayre Little League juniors All-star team went against Canton on Saturday at Athens, and after going into extra innings won 3-2 in the eighth inning.
Sayre scored two runs in the fourth inning with Canton scoring their two runs in the fifth inning.
The winning run was scored in the eighth inning when Sayre’s Brad Felt led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Joey Kozemko was up next and hit a sacrifice bunt which sent Felt to third. Williams tried to single in Felt, but couldn’t. Nick Bostwick stepped up and hit a single that sent Felt home with the win.
Pitching for Sayre was Jared Donovan who had eight strikeouts before Alex Lyons took over and added two more strikeouts with Williams catching.
Williams had two doubles, a single and a run; Felt had three singles and a run and Kozemko and Bostwick had a single each. Kozemko also added a run.
Pitching for Canton was Wilcox and Bardo who combined for 13 strikeouts with Moore catching.
Hitters were Wilcox with a single and a run, Bardo with two singles, Miller with a single and Barrett with a run.
Sayre will travel to Troy today for a game that begins at 5:30 p.m.
