Waverly, N.Y. -

    The Waverly girls JV summer leagues went into play-off rounds on Tuesday with Waverly, Edison and Athens adding some wins.
Waverly 23, Sayre 15
    Waverly kept ahead of Sayre thanks to high scorers Kate Gable and Hailey Moorehead and their six points. Sarah Sutryk and Sabrina Bowman added three points each to help Waverly stay ahead.
    Sayre’s Danielle Stopper was the high scorer with five points and Mollie Robinson had four points.
Edison 29, Odessa 13
    Edison’s Kourtnee Evans topped her team with eight points. Nicole Bargesser added six points and teammate Kasey Wandell had five points.
    Odessa’s Denna Page had six points. Taylor Carey also helped out with three points.
Athens 13, Corning West 12
    Athens refused to lose this game and forced it to go into over time. Brittney Mink led in points with four with Brittany Colone right behind with three.
    Corning West’s Lynne Pierce had six points. Carolina Dunhik and Victoria Blaker had three points each.
    The games will continue today with Waverly against Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. Tioga Central will go against Athens at 6:30 p.m. and the final game of the night will be Edison against Towanda at 7:30 p.m. All of these games are played at the Waverly High School gymnasium.
