The Waverly Majors Little League All-star team lost a thrilling game against Elmira Heights on Wednesday, 2-1.
Waverly first scored in the bottom of the third when Zach Saxon doubled to lead off in the inning. Saxon then moved to third on a ground out by Collin Traub and scored on a passed ball.
Elmira Heights scored in the top of the fourth inning when Nate Jurusik reached first base on an error. Jurusik then scored on a single by Tyler Trocia and an error on the play.
Jurusik gave his team the win on a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning.
Pitching for Elmira Heights was Joe Ducok who had sight strikeouts and allowed three hits. Hitters were Quinten Kettel with two singles, Jurusik with a solo home run and Trocia with a single.
Pitching for Waverly was Dylan Perry who tallied up six strikeouts and allowed four hits. Hitters were Saxon and Perry with a double each and Cody Marchese with a single.
