Girls JV kicks off summer league games

Waverly, N.Y. - The 2008 Waverly Girl’s JV League began games on Monday with 10 teams competing.
Edison 31, Waverly 6
Edison’s Courtney Edger led her team with 14 points and teammate Nicole Bargesser added eight more of her own.
Waverly’s Haley Moorehead scored three points for her team.
Tioga 25, Towanda 12
Tioga’s Callie Patsellis was the high scorer for her team with 15. Ashley Fleming had 10 points for Towanda.
Watkins Glen 28, Odessa 12
Canton 18, Corning West 15
Canton’s Becca Machmer had eight points and Amanda Goodwin added seven points to help their team win.
Corning West’s Carolina Downing had seven points.
Athens 21, Sayre 3
Athens’ high scorers were Brittany Mink with eight points and Amanda Thomas with six. Sayre’s high scorer was Victoria Kithcart with two points.
Canton, Watkins Glen, Edison, Tioga and Athens now stand at 1-0. Waverly, Sayre, Corning and Towanda are 0-1.
Today Edison will take on Odessa at 6 p.m., Notre Dame will go against Athens at 6 p.m., Canton will challenge Towanda at 7 p.m., Waverly will play Watkins Glen at 8 p.m. and Corning West will challenge Tioga at 9 p.m. Sayre has a bye.
