Sayre, Pa. - Sayre had a rough day on Monday as they went against Athens in a Little League Minor baseball game and lost 14-2. Athens started off with runs in the first inning and Sayre wasn’t able to score any runs until the second inning when they scored the only two for the game. By that time Athens had a seven run lead. Athens extended their lead in the third inning by scoring five more runs to seal the deal. Pitching for Athens was Parker May who pitched the first three innings and had seven strikeouts, three walks, allowed three hits and two runs. Mike Collins took over in the last inning and had three strikeouts and a walk. Leading their team in hits was May with a triple, a single and five RBI. Austin Lister added a a double, a single and an RBI; Ryan Segar had a double and a single; Sam Perri had three singles and an RBI; Aaron Barry and Adam Hunsinger had a single and two RBI apiece; Zach Sheppeck had a single and an RBI; Zach Sitzman and Matt Collins had a single each and Shane Colegrove had an RBI. Pitching for Sayre were Michael Ward and Jason Grover. Combined they had a strikeout and nine walks. Matt Williams led in hits with a double and Adam Morre and John Esposito each had a single. Sayre Majors Sayre 12, Troy 4 Sayre traveled to Troy on Monday and won their Little League All-star game. Pitching for Sayre was Tyler Williams who had four strikeouts with Nick Bostwick catching. Brad Felt led Sayre with a home run, a single and two runs; Alex Lyons added a triple, a single and two runs; Tyler Williams had a double, two singles and two runs; Nick Bostwick had a double, two singles and two runs; Jared Donovan had a double, a single and a run; Joey Kozemko added two singles and a run; Kyle Post had a single and a run and Riley Card and David Mendola had a single apiece. Pitching for Troy were Fitzwater and Grace. Hitters were Fitzwater with two singles and three runs, Wolf with two singles and a run and Goode and Black with a single each.
