Wellsboro edges Lady Redskins

The Lady Redskins soccer team had an exciting game on Friday against Wellsboro that, at the end of the second half, was tied 4-4, but after overtime Wellsboro came through with the extra goal and the win.
In the first half Wellsboro stayed strong, scoring three goals. The first goal was at 20:08 in the game by Amy Driskell. The second goal was at 38:44 in the game by Alexis Getty off of an assist from Alyssa Garrison and the third goal was with five seconds left when off the foot of a Wellsboro player.
At 17:33 in the second half, Sayre cam alive when Megan Kyc scored a goal off of an assist from Emily Stetz and Kate Schrader. Polinski turned around and scored a goal off of a penalty kick at about 18:02 in the game. Around 10 minutes later, Polinski scored another goal about 28:36 in.
Wellsboro struck again with a goal from Getty at 30:55 in the game.
Sayre scored their final goal at 37:48 in by Page Smith off of an assist from the very busy Polinski to tie the game.
Wellsboro didn’t let overtime last too long. They scored the winning goal at about 1:13 in, when Getty struck one last time on a one-on-one with Sayre’s goalie Ruby Wolcott.
Wolcott recorded six saves from Wellsboro’s 19 shots. Wellsboro’s goalie Charley Taft recorded 14 saves from Sayre’s 26 shots.
Sayre had four corner kicks and Wellsboro had two.
The Lady Redskins now stand at 5-4 in the Northern Tier League and 6-5 overall.
The next game for Sayre will be this morning at home at 10 a.m. against Troy.
