Audubon, Pa. -

Despite racking up five hits on Thursday night, the Paupack Attack 12u softball team fell to Plaquemine, Louisiana 7-1 for their second game of pool play action in the National Division of the Babe Ruth World Series.

Next up was Rochester, New Hampshire. Rochester and Wallenpaupack battled through six innings with the score tied at two a piece. Rochester struck first putting up two runs in the first inning and then Paupack climbed back up the ladder scoring one run in the third and one in the fifth to knot things at two. In the top of the seventh Rochester crossed the dish for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run, 2-3.

Throughout the weekend the team battled back to improve their pool play record to 3-2, beating both Ellensburg, Washington and Methacton, PA.

In the first of those two victories Paupack took down Ellensburg by four runs; 8-4. In the second victory they beat Methacton 14-2.

The team now sits even with Rochester at 3-2 and trails Plaquemine, LA, who are currently 5-0 in the National Division of pool play.

Wallenpaupack now has three wins (Angola, IN; Ellensburg, Wash.; Methacton, PA) and two losses (Plaquemine, LA; Rochester, NY) in pool play and would clinch a birth into bracket play with a win over Luzerne County.

The last game of pool play was rained out on Sunday and was re-scheduled for early Monday morning with bracket play to follow later in the evening. The girls faced Luzerne County, PA in their final match-up before the brackets could be decided, and beat them 8-5 to earn their birth in the bracket tournament. The team finished with an overall record of 4-2 in the National Division Pool play.

Their first  bracket game was scheduled for Monday at 5:30 pm. The tournament is now double elimination, meaning when you lose two games you are eliminated.
