Athens and Sayre school board seats up for grabs

The Bradford County Municipal Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 and various seats are up for Athens and Sayre school boards.

According to Bradford County Election Director Renee Smithkors, several terms will expire this year on the Athens School Board from several different regions.

The seats from the regions include Charles Frisbie and Christopher Jones of Region 1 — Athens Borough, John W. Cheresnowsky of Region 2 -Athens/Sheshequin Township, and Kathy Jo Minnick and Lisa Braund of Region 3 — Ridgebury/Smithfield/Ulster Township.

Additionally, five seats are up on the Sayre School Board.

These include the terms of Andrew Hickey, Debra Agnew, Pete Quattrini, Donald Skerpon, and James Shaw of Litchfield Township/Sayre Boroughs/South Waverly Borough.

Any interested school board candidates may obtain petitions in person at the Bradford County Election Bureau beginning on Feb. 6, 2023.

Sayre Area School District has not provided the Official Notice of Election, according to Smithkors.

Nominating petitions may be circulated and filed between Feb. 14 and March 7, 2023.
