ATHENS — The Athens Borough Council held its reorganizational meeting on Monday with two new members joining the board.

Joanne Polzella and Anthony Smith were sworn in alongside incumbent Sharon Sporn by Athens Mayor Skip Roupp.

The council also elected its leadership for the upcoming term with Scott Riley being re-elected as president and Scott Molnar being named vice president.

Sharon Sporn will serve as the president pro tem, which takes over when the president and vice president are unavailable.

The board discussed moving their meeting dates and times, which are currently the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. However, after a short debate, it was recommended to keep the council meetings the same and a unanimous vote confirmed it.

The council also approved the supplemental December 2021 bills list to close out the 2021 calendar year.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the council approved the borough manager’s contract which will run from Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2023.
