River town designations

Athens and Sayre boroughs were officially recognized as Susquehanna Greenway River Towns before the kickoff to Friday’s Rusty Rail game. The River Town designation was left by Futurescapes, a non-profit created after the 2011 flooding to coordinate the region’s long-term recovery process. Pictured, from left, are River Town Program Coordinator Zach Pyle, Athens Borough Mayor George Whyte, Sayre  Borough Mayor Denny Thomas, Sayre Borough Manager David Jarrett, Susquehanna Greenway Partnership Program Coordinator Alice Trowbridge, Futurescapes Treasurer and Susquehanna Greenway Partnership Team Leader Thomas Thornton, and Futurescapes Vice Chairperson Linda Politi.
