Ridin’ the Rails through downtown Sayre

It was a doubleheader performance for Ridin’ the Rails on Wednesday as they performed a matinee inside the Sayre Historical Society Museum at 2 p.m. and then played a show in the William S. Pierce Memorial Sayre Summer Concert Series inside the Sayre Elks banquet hall in the evening. According to the Sayre Historical Society Facebook page, Ridin’ the Rails recreates the nostalgia of the railroad through song and story. The group consists of Darrell Varley (vocals, banjo, guitar, mandolin and fiddle), Doug Robert (vocals, guitar and ukulele) and Jim Hardaway (vocals, bass and guitar). The group performs songs relating to trains in musical styles including folk, bluegrass, big band and nostalgia rock. Here, the members of Ridin’ The Rails stop to wave to the camera during their performance at the Elks. The Sayre concert series will continue next Wednesday with a performance by 5 Man Trio at Howard Elmer Park. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m.
