SAYRE — Athens faced one batter over the minimum in a three-inning 16-0 win over Sayre in District 15 Minors division play on Tuesday.
Athens plated four runs in the first inning on two singles and two doubles.
After scoring three more runs in the second on two singles, a double and a sacrifice fly, Athens batted around in the third to end the game early.
Connor Cole and Bryce Gombocz had two singles and two runs each for Athens with Ethan Glielmi, Evan Westerfield and Silas Bennett adding a double and two runs each.
Also for Athens, Brady Shores had a single and two runs, and Cameron Johnson matched Parker Smith and Mason Myers with a single and a run each. Graham Campbell added a single to Athens’ 12-hit attack and Peyton Williams scored a run for the visitors.
Westerfield pitched 2 2/3 innings for Athens, logging eight strikeouts and one walk. Shores got the last out in three pitches on a bouncer back to the mound.
Colton Fuller started on the hill for Sayre with relief help from Jake Woodruff.
